Feature Friday (week 4)
Ride Engine
Welcome to our Fourth feature Friday and the first for 2018.
This week we are going to be looking at the new 2018 Ride Engine Wetsuits, the perfect time to see new tech in the Winter suits.
The New Ride Engine Wetsuit collection has some superb features, wether it’s the Flush resistant zips, or the new super hot Heart warmer internals of the Apoc and Elera series.
This week we are taking a look at Ride Engines choice of Neoprene and why it works so well in their suits;
Limestone Neoprene
What is Limestone neoprene?
Limetone neoprene is as it says in the title, neoprene formed from limestone. Although it still requires allot of energy to produce it has less impact on the environment then a standard petroleum based neoprene.
Limestone neoprene has a high micro-cell structure. These are independent closed cells ,within the neoprene that are packed together at an extremely high density. Oil-based neoprene has a cell penetration of 60-70%, whereas limestone neoprene has a 94% cell penetration.
Because of this micro-cell structure, limestone neoprene provides several serious distinct advantages to the functionality of wetsuits compared to the traditional oil-based neoprene:
-
It is impermeable
-
It is lighter in weight
-
It is warmer
- It is more durable
- It is stretchy
Best of all it can be found in every wetsuit Ride Engine make!!
If your thinking you may need a new winter wetsuit why not take a look what Ride Engine have to offer.
